One-On-One
Support Sessions

When I was going through some of my toughest times, I often felt alone and misunderstood. I felt like I needed to talk things through with somebody who knew what it was like to really suffer and who wouldn't sugar coat or bypass the pain with popular platitudes that hurt more than they helped.

I felt like I just needed support and validation, with a healthy dose of realistic optimism and practical tools for moving forward.

I tried support groups and was able to find some level of healing and hope in those spaces, but often still felt lonely and unsatisfied. I just couldn't find that direct, personal connection I was craving with someone who had actually been through the muck themselves. I found the greatest level of connection in one-on-one sessions with people who were there to witness my story and offer individualized tools and support.

I decided to certify as a peer support specialist so I could offer support sessions for people that have been through a tough time, have worked through the worst of it with a licensed professional, and are ready to create a new life after trauma. I wanted to provide a place where people could share their stories and feel fully heard, validated, and cared for in a way that would set the stage to gently explore possibilities for healing and renewal.

Author Cheryl Richardson said that "people start to heal the moment they feel heard" and I really believe that.

Important disclaimer: While I am a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) certified through the state of Utah, I am not a licensed mental health professional and therefore cannot and will not discuss any treatment plans related to any formal mental health diagnosis. I believe that trauma therapy should be handled by a trauma-informed and trained therapist. Please seek professional help for these types of services. You are welcome to combine peer support sessions along with therapy, if you feel that would be helpful for you.
